WHY DO YOU LOVE TO GOLF?
I HAVE ASKED MY HUSBAND SO MANY TIMES WHY HE LOVES PLAYING GOLF. HIS REPLY IS THERE IS NO TEAM. IT IS AGAINST THE COURSE AND YOU. THERE IS NO ONE TO BLAME OR TO TAKE CREDIT FOR THE SHOTS THAT YOU MAKE. YOU PAT YOURSELF ON THE BACK WHEN YOU PLAY WELL, AND GO HOME HAPPY. IF YOU DON'T PLAY VERY WELL, YOU THINK TO YOURSELF, IT IS BETTER THAN WORK AND I WILL PLAY BETTER NET TIME, AND YOU GO HOME HAPPY.

HOW DO I GET STARTED IN GOLF??
GOLF IS A GREAT GAME, SOMETIMES IT IS REWARDING, OFTEN IT IS FRUSTRATING, BUT, IT IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!
ONE OF THE BIGGEST MISTAKES THAT PEOPLE MAKE WHEN WANTING TO START IN GOLF IS TO RUSH OUT AND BUY A NEW SET OF SHINY, EXPENSIVE GOLF CLUBS. WHILE, THE NEW, SHINY CLUBS ARE VERY NICE TO LOOK AT YOU NEED TO KEEP IN MIND THAT TODAY'S GOLF EQUIPMENT CAN COME IN GREAT VARIETIES TO CATER DIFFERENT GOLFING TYPES AND ABILITIES. SINCE YOU ARE JUST STARTING OUT, YOU DO NOT KNNOW WHICH SET FITS YOU THE BEST. IMAGINE THE ENVIOUS LOOKS YOU GET AT THE DRIVING RANGE, WHEN YOU COME IN WITH YOUR $2000 SET, AND THE LAUGHTER YOU HEAR WHEN YOU TRY TO USE THAT EXPENSIVE SET. IT IS NOT WORTH THE EMBARASSMENT. ONCE YOU SPEND A FEW HUNDRED OR EVEN A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS ON A SET THAT DOESN'T SUIT YOUR STYLE, YOU ARE STUCK WITH IT, OR YOU HAVE TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE AT A LOSS.
MOST DRIVING RANGES WILL HAVE CLUBS FOR RENT, SO THAT YOU CAN TRY OUT A FEW DIFFERENT ONES. YOU CAN ALSO A FEW CLUBS FROM A FRIEND. THE SHORTEST IRON (NINE IRON) OR A WEDGE ARE THE BEST CLUBS TO START, PRACTICING WITH IT WILL GIVE YOU THE FEELING OF HITTING THE BALL IN THE AIR AND IT SHOULD BE FAIRLY STRAIGHT FORWARD.

No, we're not talking about the Masters championships (although Mickelson has three of those), but a golf instruction video. Emmy-winner Terry Jastrow, who produced Palmer's and Nicklaus' own bestselling videos, brings his keen eye to this master class that concentrates on what Mickelson calls "the most important part of the game" (half of all shots played take place inside 50 yards, he states). Over the course of this nearly two-hour program, Mickelson demonstrates putting, chipping using his advocated "hinge and hold" method, bunker play, and his signature "flop shot." In an entertaining segment, he also demonstrates two specialty shots, a "Two Balls in Bunker" shot (don't try this at home) and the "Backward Over-the-Head" shot. The demonstrations are repeated in slow-motion and seen from a variety of angles. This program is for the serious golfer, but beginners need not feel too intimidated. Mickelson is a natural in front of the camera and is able to impart a lot of information in a relaxed style that makes even the most advanced concepts accessible.
